My touchpad and keyboard stop working after being in sleep mode. Sometimes it works for a few seconds, but always stops. They only start working again if I force restart. This problem has persisted for months and through several Windows updates. All my drivers are up to date. I’ve run troubleshooting on both my keyboard and touchpad.

Regular troubleshooting comes up no results. I have troubleshooted and restarted all three of these issues but nothing works. They always appear again after troubleshooting. Was this reply helpful? Clean boot showed that some service was probably the culprit. After gradually re-enabling the services that I think I need, the PC still recognizes the keyboard after sleep.

I thought it was fixed, but it seems more complicated. For a while, it seemed that if I woke the computer using the mouse, the keyboard would work, but not if I used the keyboard to wake it up. But then the issue came back — keyboard was dead after sleep regardless of how I awoke it. I hadn’t changed anything in the startup services, so I don’t know why. So I disabled a couple more services, and it seems to be working again, but I don’t know for how long.

After disabling, when I put the computer to sleep and wake it back up, the keyboard works, at least if I wake it with the mouse and not the keyboard. Then it works fine. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
