Most interfaces come with their own app to setup things like routing and clocking. Some simply number them. But in that case the numbering system would be explained in the manual of the interface. Have you tried to approach the Mbox support about this? After taking a look at the manual of the Mbox 2 it seems to have 2 analog inputs plus the spdif for a total of 4 inputs.
