I don’t play enough or get into racing games enough to warrant the purchase of a steering wheel set up. However, using the controller I found no problem with the controls once I went into options and configured them to my liking, much the way I do with the Forza games. Finally, gameplay. One thing I will verify that other reviews mentioned is this. Whether you caused it or not, when in a wreck 9 times outta 10 you will be penalized. Yeah, it sucks, but do I consider it a game breaker?

I tried to do it but generally go into a wreck and penalized. Once I passed the learning curve, I got a bit more bold and found that as long as you break, not ramming the guy in front of you, the AI behind you generally doesn’t wreck into you, and then you just have to watch your sides going through the turn.

If you don’t attempt to do this and get proficient at it, you will find it difficult to finish with any points. Another way to avoid this is finishing in 1st-3rd on you qualifying laps the day before the race.

I would recommend doing this as well, at least until you pass the learning curve and feel confident in your ability to control the car in wet and dry conditions. ALL IN ALL, I believe for the price that this game has come down to, if your interested in learning the race style of F1 cars or if your just bored with your usual genre of racing games, you can’t go wrong picking the game up.

Keep in mind that there is a bit of a learning curve if new to the series, and that it doesn’t come without its frustrations at times. However, once you get it, the experience IS rewarding and may just hook you in to adding a new genre to your collection. I’ll start off by saying this is a beautiful game with fantastic graphics and excellent game play and you absolutely should buy this game.

I’ve been playing this F1 series since it’s major console debut in which is why I have a few minor mostly nitpicky issues with it. They say it’s the little things that will stand out to you the most and this game is no exception. Most of my qualms are associated with the career mode of this game.

I felt that in F you were introduced to a neat experience of driving contracts and the behind the scenes stuff like post race interviews if you placed on the podium etc. Contracts also included monetary values which I thought was neat. F took away the monetary value from contracts and moved interviews to outside your trailer after sessions regardless of where you finish which I liked but it seemed to remove any impact you answers had on anything outside of that interview.

F Also had a neat feature where your helmet visor would attach new sponsors to it depending on what team you were driving for which I thought was very cool. F seems to have removed a lot of personal feel away from career mode, no custom visors, no driver interviews, You have less input into contracts etc. What they have done in F that I like is the beautiful main and sub menu systems.

Its about time these beautiful cars were featured more prominently on the screen when you were navigating through the menus. The various game play modes are also fun especially the champions mode and the race championship you can play and take rides from rivals week to week.

Multiplayer, which is something Codemasters spent a lot more time focusing on, is fantastic and a lot of fun. Somethings I was hoping for in F that maybe will show up in F These range from incredibly nitpicky to practical I think : 1 Custom names on drivers uniforms.

It takes a lot away from career mode when the car you’re driving and the uniform you are wearing has someone else’s name on it. Wouldn’t it be cool to wear a helmet in game that matches what the legends like Hunt, Prost, Senna, Mansell, and others wore?

Including the young driver’s test is a HUGE step in this direction. So lets go all out for it. Maybe a season from the late 80’s or early 90’s?

Where we can strap in behind the wheel of some the finest, fastest, and most dangerous Formula 1 vehicles that ever existed? On the classic tracks of yesterday where our heroes made a names for themselves? Buy this game!
